Baptism at Eastmont
Take the Next Step in Your Faith Journey.
A public declaration of your faith and a testimony of God's work in your life.
Baptism is a beautiful act of obedience that symbolizes our union with Christ in His death and resurrection. It is a celebration of the new life we have through faith in Him and a public declaration of our trust in His saving work.
What is Baptism?
Baptism is a public declaration of your faith and a powerful symbol of the transformation that takes place when you follow Jesus. The word baptism comes from the Greek word baptízō, meaning “to immerse.”
Through baptism, you symbolize dying to sin and being raised to new life in Christ. It’s an act of obedience and a celebration of God’s work in your life.
Biblically, baptism signifies:
Christ’s Death and Resurrection (Romans 6:3-4)
Union with Christ (Colossians 2:12)
Cleansing from Sin (Acts 22:16)
Baptism is not what saves us, but it’s a meaningful step of faith and a way to share your new life in Jesus with others.

Why Baptism Matters
-
We baptize as followers of Christ for three important reasons:
To follow Jesus’ example.
Jesus Himself was baptized, setting an example for us to follow (Mark 1:9).To obey Jesus’ command.
Before ascending to heaven, Jesus instructed His followers to go and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).To publicly declare faith.
Baptism is a way to proclaim your faith in Jesus and share the story of how God has transformed your life (Acts 2:38).
-
No, baptism does not save anyone or impart God’s grace. Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-9). Baptism is a public response to the saving work of Christ, symbolizing how you have died to sin and been raised to new life in Him (Romans 6:4).
Even though it is not necessary for salvation, baptism is an important act of obedience that gives you the opportunity to testify to God’s work in your life and celebrate with the church body.
-
Baptism is reserved for those who have made a personal decision to follow Jesus Christ. This is often called “believer’s baptism.”
The New Testament consistently shows that baptism is for individuals who have repented of their sins and put their trust in Jesus (Acts 2:38; 8:12; 16:31-33). At Eastmont, we ask that each candidate demonstrate a believable profession of faith in Christ, ensuring baptism reflects their personal decision to follow Him.
